Das BOYLESQUE DRAG FESTIVAL zelebriert Vielfalt auch wieder in KÖLN!

Berlin war schon immer Schmelztiegel und kultureller Vorreiter in Deutschland. Und Boylesque, das liebevoll auch mal als männlicher (Strip)Tease mit Storyline betitelt wird, begeisterte schon im späten 18. Jh. die Damen- aber auch die Herrenwelt. In den frühen 1920er eroberte diese Kunstform dann die Berliner Hochkultur um kurz darauf im Underground weiter zu blühen. Auch die Travestie hat eine lange und sehr ehrenwerte Geschichte und erlebt nicht erst seit RU PAULS DRAGRACE eine weltweite Renaissance. Der Grundgedanke lag nah diesen beiden Schätzen in Deutschland endlich ein eigenes Festival zu schenken. Ganz im Vorbild des von Jacques Patriaque in Europa und darüberhinaus erfolgreich eingeführten VIENNA BOYLESQUE FESTIVAL, wollen wir alle Genderschranken über den Haufen werfen und wunderbare Menschen jeden Geschlechts zelebrieren. Vielfalt und Lebensfreude stehen dabei im Fokus der beiden Abende. Feiern Sie mit uns die Liebe zum Leben und das zum zweiten Mal…. größer, bunter und garantiert besonders. SAVE THE DATE!

Berlin – the other city that never sleeps – has always been a melting pot and THE homestead for Germany’s cultural vanguard. Boylesque – sometimes lovingly labelled male strip-tease with a storyline – has since the late 18th century already thrilled both female and male audiences alike. In the early 1920s it was accepted as an art form in its own right, only to disappear into the underground shortly afterwards, where of course it continued to flourish. Drag or its predecessor, the Travesti theatre, has enjoyed a global renaissance as well and that is not only because of RU PAUL’S DRAGRACE. Therefore, it was almost self-evident to make the gift of a festival to Germany dedicated to these two gems among the performing arts. It is in the footsteps of Jacques Patriaque in Europe and the successful introduction of the VIENNA BOYLESQUE FESTIVAL that we want to overcome all limitations of gender roles and gender thought and celebrate the wonderful persons behind each gender, whatever it may be. Diversity, tolerance, a lust for life and joie de vivre shall be in the spotlight for these two nights. Celebrate with us the love for life again…bigger, better and colorful…. SAVE THE DATE.
